Co-Moderator's Message

RE-GIFTING”

“Re- gifting” you ask?  But I thought it was not proper to pass a gift of ours off to others. That is not the case here at BCC.   We encourage each of you to share your gift again and again.   One thing we have learned over the past six months is that we EACH have a gift.

·        A gift given to us by God.

·        A gift which we are encouraged to share in our ministry at BCC.

·        A gift which will be given in answer to God’s calling.

·        A gift which we are asked to share with others over and over.

Yes,” re-gifting” is just what God’s call has in mind.  God is calling…God is calling each of us to share our gift by engaging in the various ministries at BCC.  Each of us, as a member of the BCC family and this CONGREGATIONAL church, is asked to accept God’s call to share our gift.  We each have a responsibility to engage in the ministry of our church.  Perhaps re-gifting is really “accepting the responsibility to share our gift?”

How do I know what and where and when my gift is needed?   Listen to God’s call.  God does not give up easily when he calls.  One is able to argue, or come up with excuses, or claim that now is not the time, but God continues to put all of that aside and call again.  God is calling each of us to do our part.  God is calling each of us to “re-gift.”  God calls each of us, because God knows what each of us has to share.

In the next few weeks, opportunities for ministering to this church will be offered to each of us. Accept the call.

RE-GIFT.

Share your gift over and over and over.

RE-GIFT.

Accept the responsibility to share your gift with all of us

Welcoming and Caring

The Membership Board is a five member board.  Its responsibilities include tracking of weekly attendance and providing follow-up information to visitors; assist the E-Team in their focus on evangelism and growth; help our members to discern their gifts and provide encouragement for members to use their gifts within our congregation; assist the minister at new member meetings, and conduct a yearly review of our membership rolls.  We also have the responsibility to address the caring concerns of our members and reach out to those members who have not been in attendance at our worship services or activities.

This year, this board is addressing the reasons why our younger members remain active or become inactive within the church family.  Our focus is to reach all ages in our church family and continue to provide a connection with our youth as they leave home for study or jobs.

If you have a friend or a neighbor looking for a church, we encourage each of you to take the handouts on the narthex table—Our faith is over 2000 years old.  Our thinking is not.—or the business card sized handout—Together we make a difference.   Invite a friend or neighbor to read about our church or invite them to one of our church’s services or activities.

If you have any questions, cares or concerns please contact one of the members of the Membership Board.

STEWARDSHIP BOARD

The lights will turn on in 2008. There will be sermons every Sunday and worthy missions will receive financial support.

Though its belt may have to be tightened, BCC will stay out of operational debt and the number of kids bringing life to our halls will continue to increase. All told, this is a healthy, vital church, with a very bright future. Keeping it that way is the responsibility of us all.

For the Stewardship Board, this responsibility is a broad constant: to oversee and encourage BCC members to share their gifts of time, talent and financial support. The heaviest emphasis, of course, falls upon the latter. Every year, the Stewardship Board leads the Fall Pledge Campaign, in which members are asked to commit to future contributions. This process allows for the creation of a realistic operating budget and guides the church's commitments for the following year.

Though we've yet to launch our 2008 pledge campaign, we want to thank all of you in advance for your generosity and ongoing commitment. Without your active participation, the lights won't go on, there will be no weekly sermons and worthy community needs will remain unmet. Please be sure to open both your hearts and wallets when the time comes. This is a great church and we all want to keep it that way.

With thanks,

The Stewardship Board

WORSHIP BOARD

The Worship Board is responsible for serving Communion and ushering on the first Sunday of each month. The Worship Board also develops an Usher Schedule for the year, which is distributed to all the other boards.

The Worship Board is responsible for the upkeep of the altar in accordance with the church season. The paraments (altar cloth and banners) are changed on a set schedule. Other duties of the Worship Board include ordering the Easter flowers, Christmas poinsettias, Christmas tree, and wreaths for the Hanging of the Greens. The Board is also responsible for getting the rose that is given at Baptisms.
