CHRISTIAN EDUCATION NEWS
BLASt (Bible Learning Adventure Stations)
We will begin Year Two of our workshop rotation church school curriculum on September 7th learning about Noah’s Ark.
Each week after the children’s message in the sanctuary, our 3 year olds – 8th graders walk down to the “Congo Room” to learn about a story from the Bible from their guides – Mrs. Hughes and/or Mrs. Graf. (*Exception: grades 5-8 will stay in church for communion on the first Sunday of every month.)
After the story they will sing a song and pray together. Next, the kids will go off to a different Bible Learning Adventure Station each week. Our stations are the Oasis Café (food activities), Imagination Station (art activities), Omni Station (science/storytelling/video activities) and the Creation Station (games).
During the month of October we will start a new unit studying the Tower of Babel and in November we will learn about Daniel.
We are still in need of additional BLASt leaders, so if you would like to join in on the fun and volunteer this year, please let Angela or Becca know. Thanks!
2008-2009 CONFIRMATION PLANS
Plans are underway to start confirmation for 9th and 10th grades on September 14, 2008, at 7:00 p.m. Tentatively, we will be sharing confirmation with Trinity UCC, and we will be meeting on the second and fourth Sundays of the month.
Let us know who will be attending, so we can keep you posted on plans. Please contact Pastor Connie if you have any input on merging the classes.
We will also be looking for mentors for these students. Students, be thinking about someone who might be a good mentor for you.
s CHRISTIAN EDUCATION BOARD The CE board is a busy group which currently consists of six members plus senior pastor, Dr. Rich Wolf. Most people know we handle all aspects of church school each Sunday, including recruiting teachers, training those teachers, selecting curriculum, and further developing that curriculum. Members may not realize that CE does so much more! Nursery care, summer church school, the Lent Event, Advent Workshop, the Christmas Eve Family Service, and Vacation Bible School are also a part of CE’s responsibilities. In addition we contribute to Confirmation Sunday, Teacher Recognition Sunday, Rally Sunday, and Bible Sunday. CE is not only about children, however. The board works with our pastors to offer adult education opportunities. Look for some exciting events coming soon. If you have any ideas or suggestions for our board, we welcome them. Feel free to leave a note in the CE mailbox in the office or join us for a meeting. |
